plague and isolation, oh yeah!

I'm teasing, Kate. Our newbie member did a great job hosting the last meeting and has picked what promises to be a great read for our next selection. It's called "Year of Wonders" and it is NOT about the war or a self-centered heroine, and it's in paperback. The author is Geraldine Brooks who I have wanted to read for a long time. (In fact, I just got her other book, "March", for my birthday.) Reviews are good, but not perfect which I hope will lead to some good conversations. Happy reading!

Plague and isolation, sounds like a nice change! By the way, The Piano Teacher, that I mentioned at the last meeting has both WWII and self-centered main characters (but it is turning out to be a great read, so far it been "a bad mother book" to coin a phrase from Jenny Pitts. I keep sneaking off to read a few more pages).
