coming up

Hello. Whew, I have been neglecting my blogging duties. Our next meeting is coming up and I just wanted to make sure everyone was ready. I myself finished the book weeks ago... OK, I was kind of excited for it and just happened to be in a book lull at the time so I snatched it right up and read it in a few days. I'll keep my comments to myself until the meeting and will simply say that I liked it. I hope other folks are enjoying it as well.

In the meantime I read the 1st Percy Jackson book, "The Lightning Thief" and listened to the 2nd, "Sea of Monsters", on CD in the car. I can see why my son is so enthralled. They are very entertaining. Especially for young boys - which is quite a feat. I applaud Rick Riordan and am looking forward to his next series, the Kane Chronicles, which will deal with Egyptian gods.

Now I am in the middle of a book my husband recommended. "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers. I like it... it's funny... but... it's a memoir and I just have a problem with memoirs. Can't seem to help it. I always feel like I am simply reading someone's rants and raves and not a work of literature. I'll finish it none-the-less and let you guys know what I think. Scott absolutely loved it. As did just about every reviewer out there...
