back to the books

Thank you to Jenny for getting us back on track. I just got my copy of "The Lottery" and plan to do some reading tonight.

Interesting to hear that some of you read Bel Canto over the summer. And not everyone agreed it was awesome. Maybe we can have a side discussion about that. I'll have to skim through it again to make sure I am up to speed though.

I just finished "Unbroken" by Hillenbrand which I thought was fantastic. Highly recommend it. I also read "The Soldier's Wife" by Margaret Leroy which I thought was vapid drivel. Nice balance I suppose. We've been getting so many good books in the library I tend to get overwhelmed. "The Last Werewolf" and "Discovery of Witches" are on my list. Perfect this time of year. Though Perrotta's new one "Leftovers" is waiting for me as well. And how about the new Geraldine Brooks, "Caleb's Crossing"? Anyone read it yet?

Just rambling. See everyone soon.

Loved "Unbroken"! Couldn't believe someone actually lived his life. After "Lottery" I read "The Passage" not realizing it was the first of 3! I did like it though and will probably keep reading when he comes out with the others. Right now I'm reading "Devil in the White City". Liking it so far.
