Lots of Things

Hello. Hope summer is treating all of you well. We certainly have had plenty of sunny beach days. And I have taken advantage of them to get quite a bit of reading done. I recently finished "The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire", the first 2 books in a rather dark YA trilogy. And of course I read "The Help". So incredibly awesome. I am somewhat afraid of our next meeting - what are we going to talk about if we all loved the book? Speaking of which, next meeting is coming up so those of you who haven't read the book yet, get going! You'll find it worth every moment.

There seem to be lots of books around worthy of reading these days. I've been amassing list of some I'd like to tackle "The Mind is Mightier than the Sword", "Freakonomics", "Pygmy", "Parable of the Sower", "Her Fearful Symmetry", and "Shadow of the Wind".

Two books in particular I think may be good choices for book club are "Wicked". Kris mentioned it as it would be good to read and follow up with a field trip to the musical. Sounds good to me! Then I found out the North River Arts Writing Group will be hosting a meet and greet with Brunonia Barry in Sept. She wrote "The Lace Reader" which could be a good choice to precede a field trip to the meeting.

Feel free to post your summer reading ideas to the blog!

Also, the Boston Book Festival will be back this fall. I really want to make it there - rain or shine!

Happy reading!
